TOM BECKMAN:

PLAYER - COACH - EASTERN OPEN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR !

About Tom: Tom has been leading the Eastern Open since 2009. He has made some notable innovations in the tournament's format: the special, sectional and tournament book prizes, Chess Lecture, Simuls, and the Action Tourney. Tom has over 50 years experience playing in chess tournaments with his highest rating being 2285 FIDE and 2225 USCF. He has authored a number of opening booklets and articles for Chess Life, and his opening analysis and coaching has influenced several strong players. Finally, Tom has developed a teaching curriculum and method that has demonstrated its effectiveness with his students over the years. The highlight of many lessons are the 15-minute games that are annotated and reviewed at subsequent lessons.


ANDY REA:

USCF SENIOR TD - NATIONAL ARBITER - EO Chief TD !

About Andy: Andy is an active Player, Tournament Director, and Organizer with peak rating of 2237 USCF and 2230 FIDE, with considerable TD experience with Continental Chess and US Chess. He has been an Eastern Open TD since 2012 as well as a TD at several World Opens, US Scholastic Championships, most recently, the Eastern Open, among other events. He is a 1993 Pennsylvania State Champion and 2000 Colorado Closed Champion. He strives for fair playing conditions for all players!


GREG VASERSTEIN:

USCF SENIOR TD - FIDE ARBITER - EO Chief Floor TD !

About Greg: Greg has directed tournaments since the 1980's throughout the US from small local events to large tournaments such as the World Open and the US Open, from invitation-only round-robin and FIDE IM and GM-norm tournaments, to state and national scholastic championships. When not directing, Greg enjoys coaching and teaching chess, as well as, of course, playing chess, maintaining an over-2200 FIDE rating.


KARL PETERSON:

About Karl: Karl teaches chess locally with his own students and through the Snow Chess Academy. Karl is also a member of the local Arlington Chess Club where he runs tournaments and other events.

About Josh: A local chess organizer, Josh comes from George Mason University and NOVA. Josh runs the DMV Chess Club (Reston, VA) and their DMV Chess League.
